You're not alone, here are my tips on building a community.

Hi there!

I know I often write about finding courage within, and it can sometimes feel challenging to do it alone.

But it doesn’t have to be.

One key enabler of staying motivated is being surrounded by and becoming part of the right community.

Importance of Community

Being part of a healthy community helps us feel connected to others and reminds us that we’re part of something larger than ourselves.

A community provides a sense of belonging and support, reducing stress and isolation.

Here’s what works for me

Showing Up: I made it a point to consistently show up. This means committing to attending events, meetings, or gatherings regularly.

It all about active participation. Engage in conversations, share your thoughts, and listen to others.

Adding Value: Identify the skills you bring to the table, whether they’re soft skills like communication, emceeing or hard skills like Excel.

Every community can benefit from diverse skills. Sharing ideas from your industry or function can enrich the community. Personally, I often refer people to job opportunities that could be a good fit for them.

Communities I’m loving

Right now, I have 2 main communities I get inspiration from.

Coaching Community: As I undergone my training, I’ve found a group of like-minded individuals who motivate me to master my craft.

I rely on this group for brainstorming, practice, and feedback. This community has significantly contributed to my sense of identity.

Young Women’s Leadership Connection: This network, focused on women aged 21-35 across various industries, offers opportunities to develop new skills like public speaking and event planning.

It also connects me with women facing similar challenges or providing new perspectives. I feel embraced for who I am and excited about my growth.

Consider what you’re passionate about and look for groups that align with those interests. Engaging with a community can make a world of difference in your journey.
