Happy International Women's Day & Start Saying How You Feel
There is science behind why talking about feelings is critical.
Hi there
How was your weekend? We are in the full swing of International Women's Day/Month and it’s a great time to be a woman. Amongst everything I’ve seen/heard, the best so far is: “Women are over-mentored and under-sponsored.”
I'm starting to find a rhythm in creating this series. I’m thinking Sundays could be more research-based, useful mental models and frameworks. Wednesdays could be on everyday courage and personal journeys inspired by people around me. Am I’m over-complicating things?
Thanks again for being on this journey 😍.

One of my favorite coaching question is “How do you feel?". Initially, my clients would not understand why I'm asking them this or find it difficult to answer. The default response to that is a not-shockingly, "I don't know". Some would even feel so uncomfortable and jump into what to do instead.
There is science behind why talking about feelings is good critical. Research from U.C.L.A. suggests that putting your feelings into words — aka “affect labeling” — can diminish the response of the amygdala (this part of the brain handles your fight or flight response when you encounter things that are upsetting). Over time, you can become less stressed over something that bothers you.
What was the most impactful thing that happened when said how you feel?
I hope all of us have the space and right people to talk about how we feel.
As usual, I believe in your possibilities. Please let me know any suggestions on this series!
